How We Compare

You have many options when considering truck decks or other toy hauling options. That’s why we go the extra mile in construction, flexibility, safety and ease of use when making TruckBoss Decks. We take great pride being different from our competitors because – in the end – they can’t compete with us.

Is your deck made in the USA and assembled in Canada?

TruckBoss Decks are made in the USA. We recognize that offshore products can be less expensive to purchase, but we will not compromise quality and durability.

Xplore is made in China and assembled in Canada.

Does your deck feature no-weld construction?

TruckBoss Decks are made of proprietary aluminum extrusions that lock together for maximum strength. Aluminum welding reduces the strength of aluminum.

Marlon is welded in China.

Does your deck feature capture-channel technology?

Capture-channel technology doesn’t require any drilling or reinforcement to add or remove accessories. This exclusive feature allows full use of the main deck surface without compromising its structural integrity. Our users can easily reconfigure their deck for all seasons and application – with no drilling or leftover holes.

Adding accessories to a Marlon deck requires locating, drilling and reinforcing holes. Removing accessories will leave holes in a Marlon deck.

Does your deck seal to the bed of my truck?

TruckBoss Decks provide a full weather seal around the truck bed and maximum secure storage when the tailgate is locked. Weather sealing and theft prevention are very popular with our users.

All Marlon products expose your truck bed contents to the weather while providing minimal theft protection.

Do all major deck components feature extreme etch anodized finishing?

Our decks come standard with anodized finishes on all major components. Anodizing is the best finish for aluminum in terms of strength, durability and cleanliness.

Marlon Xplore / Xplore Pro deck components come standard with wood or raw, mill-run / brushed aluminum deck surfaces. Raw aluminum is hard to clean and its oxidation will blacken items contacting it.

Does your deck feature flat-surface telescoping sides?

Our deck's expandable sides are designed to extend and retract inside the main deck surface when not in use. This exclusive feature allows full use of the main deck surface regardless of whether the sides are opened or closed.

Xplore Deck sides overlap/slide over top of the main deck. This creates an uneven deck surface, reduces usable deck space, limits accessories – and is prone to freezing, jamming and rattling.

We deliver a full-access deck that is clean, quiet, equipped with capture-channels – ready for use regardless of sides being open or closed.

Is your deck compatible with no-rattle tie downs?

There is nothing worse than listening to rattling tie downs when going down the road. Our tie-downs are secure and rattle-free regardless of road conditions.

Some Marlon decks are equipped with an (optional) L-track / rope-ring system located in the sides. Since L-track rope-rings are noisy and prone to theft they must be removed when not in use.

Does your deck provide unlimited tie-down points?

Everyone ties down loads differently. Our capture-channel system provides safe, secure and unlimited tie-down points and accessory locations throughout the main deck, sides and cab guard. All you need to change things up is a ½″ wrench.

Marlon products provide this feature (sides-only), using L-track equipped with rope-rings. Adding L-track or other accessories to a Marlon deck requires locating, drilling and reinforcing holes.

Does your deck feature an integrated sliding winch with wired and wireless remote activation?

The optional winch system can be integrated into the front two capture channels of every TruckBoss Deck. Mounted low, flush and forward on the deck surface to save deck space, it allows the winch to slide across the front of the deck for dual/triple loading. For safe, ground-level operation, the winch is secured in place using hand knobs and comes standard with synthetic cable and two pendants (wireless and wired).

Marlon’s winch system requires mounting on a reinforced cab guard. Side-to-side positioning of the winch requires unbolting/re-bolting for the desired left, center or right location. The high-angle winch mounting location on the cab guard reduces available deck space and increases the already high forces on the deck, cab guard and winch mounting plate.

Can your deck carry personal water craft?

Our FlexxLoader PWC systems allow safe, convenient loading and transport of three stand-up or two sit-down PWCs. Each FlexxLoader is designed to accommodate an optional two- or four-wheel high-flotation beach cart system.

Can your deck carry snowbikes?

The FlexxLoader Snow Bike system allow safe, convenient loading and transport of two to three snow bikes with complete safety.

Is your deck SmartBoxx compatible?

The optional SmartBoxx is the perfect solution for storing gear under the deck in most day-to-day use. Weather protected, theft-proof dry storage is a convenience only a TruckBoss Deck with a SmartBoxx can provide.

Does your deck feature weight-distributing legs?

A TruckBoss Deck is secured to your truck better than any other deck in the market. All decks include four fully-adjustable legs with large, load-distributing base plates for even distribution of the deck and deck load.

Marlon offers a deck leg riser as an option.

Is your deck cargo rack compatible?

The flexibility of infinite tie-down points on a TruckBoss Deck allow you to easily configure your deck for the work week and for play on the weekend. This includes adding CargoRacxx to the front and CargoDecxx to the rear of the deck to haul ladders, canoes, kayaks, etc.

Marlon does not offer this.

Is your deck compatible with larger UTVs?

We've designed a specialized UTV extension system to deal with the additional weight and length of modern UTVs.

Marlon does not offer a comparable product.

Does your deck feature specialized UTV / ATV ramps?

We offer 16″ Skinny Ramps for ATV and UTV applications. These ramps have a combined 3000 lb capacity.

Marlon offers a snowmobile ramp with 1500 lb capacity and an add-on ramp with 600 lb capacity.

Can your deck support 2000 lbs?

Diamondback claims their cover has a 1600 lb capacity. Diamondback deck loads are supported entirely by the deck rails/tailgate. Many modern UTVs loaded with fuel/gear exceed 1600 lbs.

Is your deck large enough for UTVS?

Many modern UTV widths exceed the width of a truck's bed rails. Diamondback cover widths are narrower than truck bed rails.

Is your deck compatible with telescopic ramps?

Our ATV and UTV ramps are designed for safety and ease of use. They are rated for 1500 lbs each, 3000 lbs per pair, and utilize patented telescoping technology and locking hooks.

Diamondback folding ramps are rated for 800 lbs each or 1600 lbs per pair total capacity. Folding ramps are awkward and difficult to deploy. Folding ramps create pinch points which can cause serious hand injuries.

Can you move your deck from truck to truck?

A TruckBoss Deck is a lifetime product that re-installs/adjusts to other vehicles with ease. This flexibility protects your long-term deck investment. Our decks are built in three model lengths that will fit any truck bed width. When a customer changes their vehicle, our three universal models have them covered.

Because each truck brand and model year often have varying box lengths and widths, Diamondback fabricates 50+ covers to accommodate current truck models. When Diamondback owners change vehicles a new cover is often required.

Does your deck feature tailgate binding technology?

Regardless of the load, a TruckBoss Deck will never jam your tailgate – allowing full access to your truck bed at all times.

Diamondback offers a number of heavy-load optional aids to support their cover and allow the tailgate to be opened.

In freeze/thaw conditions Diamondback covers often freeze to the tailgate and bed rails preventing access to your truck bed.

Does your deck feature capture-channel technology?

With capture-channel technology there is no need to drill into the deck. Our deck system provides safe, secure, unlimited tie-down points and accessory locations throughout the main deck, sides and cab guard. All you need to change things up is a ½″ wrench to add or remove accessories. Our users can reconfigure their deck based on any season or application without leaving holes or compromising their deck's structural integrity.

Diamondback requires drilling holes to add accessories. Removing accessories leaves holes in a Diamondback cover, leaving it open to potential corrosion and structural weakening.

Does your deck feature unlimited tie-down points?

We all tie down loads a little bit differently and our capture channels allow you to add and relocate tie-down points to virtually any part of the deck. With no limit to the number of tie-down points, they can easily be added and removed with a 1/2″ wrench.

Diamondback tie-downs are drilled/fixed points and have no flexibility to accommodate your various tie-down needs.

Is your deck supported by weight-distributing legs?

A TruckBoss Deck is secured to your truck better than any other deck in the market. Our decks are installed with a structural rail system on each side of the bed of the truck, secured in place with up to eight heavy-duty clamps evenly spaced along the rail of the truck. The rail system is supported using four heavy-duty legs to transfer payload to the floor of the bed. No pressure is applied to the weaker front bulkhead or the tailgate of the truck.

Diamondback is secured by four clamps in the centre of the truck and places all of the weight on the rails, front bulkhead, and tailgate of the truck.

Does your deck seal to the bed of my truck?

A TruckBoss Deck seals to the bed of the truck to lock out the weather and provide absolutely secure storage when the tailgate is locked.

Diamondback covers are sealed to the truck bed rails/tailgate using rubber seals that can freeze to the bed rails while partially sealing the cover against weather. Their covers are held closed using sheet metal brackets and a sliding pin system that can easily be pried open.

Does Diamondback have a lock? If so, it means you will need two locks to open your tailgate… and the Diamondback lock will be cheap Zamac pot metal that will corrode over time.

Does your deck feature an integrated sliding winch with wired and wireless remote activation?

The optional winch system is integrated into our deck and makes loading/unloading safe and simple. The winch slides from side to side on the front of the deck by simply loosening the winch-plate knobs from ground level. Winch operation is via a wireless or wired remote.

Diamondback does not offer a winch solution.

Can your deck carry personal water craft?

Our FlexxLoader systems allow you to load/carry stand-up or sit-down PWCs. FlexxLoaders also convert into a beach-cart system.

Diamondback does not offer a PWC system.

Can your deck carry snow bikes?

Diamondback does not offer a snow bike system.

Can your deck carry snowmobiles?
